Have you been diagnosed with Idiopathic Scoliosis?  Well, you are not the only one.  I am a 17 year old girl from San Diego who is living with it as well.  This is my x-ray below.  In fact, about 2-3 percent of Americans have scoliosis.  For some of those people, scoliosis can be very stressful.  There are very limited ways to try to prevent it or treat it.  You can watch it and hope your spine stops curving, you can wear a brace, or you can get surgery to straighten your back.  With this website, I hope people will share their stories and help others learn more about this condition.  To share your story, please email me at When people read these stories I hope they will feel more comfortable with their scoliosis.  Please send in stories!

                                      About Me

Hi, I am Hannah. I was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis when I was 12. I had a 36 degree curvature and needed a brace to avoid surgery. I wore my brace for 20 hours every day for a year. Luckily, my curve is currently 17 degrees and I only wear my brace at night. Now I am 17 years old and I want to encourage other teens to follow their treatment plans and deal with their scoliosis successfully.

2015 Update: I am currently attending college as a biomedical engineering major.  I intend to work in the area of scoliosis treatment, creating new therapies or surgical interventions.  One day I hope that scoliosis will cease to be an issue for young people like us!
