Araylia's Story

Two years back, in 2008, I went to get vaccinated. I have not ever really been to the doctor, considering I have been extremely healthy for all my life.  I was 11 years old and never expected any sort of health problem in my future. They did a physical and such on me, tested my reflexes, and flexibility. Then my doctor asked me to bend over. Yet he still had problems seeing I had scoliosis. He told me not to worry, as it was extremely minor. He advised I go get some x-rays and such just in case, then I might have to do some exercises, or at worst, get a brace. He doubted it. He obviously was not concerned though he still wanted it checked out.

My mother never took me and never even told my dad. I tried talking to her about it but she was not concerned in the least bit. Then my dad took me to Utah to visit family. The curve in my back started to show more and more. He still did not know I had it. But he could almost tell something was wrong.
Almost two years later I was helping to move. As I bent over to pick up a box, my dad stopped me. I was wearing a really tight shirt so my spine was visible. So was the curve. My shoulders were a little bit off, and my posture was bad. He started asking me what was wrong, and I told him. I had no idea he didn't know. He was upset and knew if my mom had taken me when it wasn't bad, it might not even exist.  He was extremely concerned and made an appointment that very day.
Now my back measures 66 degrees.  I found out that i am going to get surgery in less than a week. It became very, very severe and wearing a brace would be pointless. Blood tests and such are going to be held on me today.
